A Visit From Mimi!

Nick's mom lives in Arkansas so she is unable to see her grandchildren in Ohio as often as she would like. She made the trip to Ohio last week and was able to see Evan in person for the first time. She was so excited to see not only Evan, but Emily and Mason as well. They were just as excited to get to spend so much time with their "Mimi!"

Pyloric Stenosis???

We have been a little concerned because Evan seems to spit-up more than normal, often a projectile vomit, and sometimes with a bit of blood. After a couple of visits to our pediatrician and a lot of monitoring, our peditrician thought Evan might have a condition known as Pyloric Stenosis and might possibly need to have surgery to correct the condition. He wanted Evan to see a pediatric surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic because they deal with this condition on a more regular basis. The surgeon did an exam on Evan and couldn't tell for sure if he had the lump in his belly so he decided to have an ultrasound done on Evan. This would allow him to tell if Evan in fact did have Pyloric Stenosis or not.

We forgot to bring in the stroller so they let us use a wheelchair to get Evan from the Dr.'s office on one side of the hospital to the radiology department for the ultrasound on the other side of the hospital. Thank goodness for the wheelchair because that is one big hospital to try to carry an infant car seat!

Nick was playing around with the chalkboard while we waited to be called back to have the ultrasound.

Evan lying on the bed after he had the ultrasound. The radiology technician was very good with Evan. You could tell that she had a lot of experience with small children. She took the results to show the radiologist and had to wait and see if she needed to take more pictures of Evan. He was a real trooper during the whole procedure.

He didn't like the cold gel or having his belly rubbed so hard for such a long time.

Daddy trying to calm Evan down while we waited for the results. Thank goodness he did not have Pyloric Stenosis afterall, which meant no surgery! Now we just need to figure out why he spits up so much.

More Christmas Pictures

Nick's sister Baranda made an appointment for the kids to get Christmas pictures taken for their parents. Here are a few of my favorites.

Bath Time

Here are a few pictures of Evan getting a real bath in the bathtub. He seems to like the warm water and really enjoys getting baths.
Looking a little surprised about something.

Enjoying the warm water.
Drying off with his duck towel.

Christmas Card Picture Attempts

I tried on numerous occasions to set up my own "studio" in an attempt to get a couple of good pictures of Evan for a Christmas card. Here are a few samples of the different pictures that I tried to take. As you can see, he wasn't too excited about a couple of situations that I put him in. Even though I only used 1 or 2 of those pictures, I still think he looks pretty cute in all of the them.

1st Bottle Feeding

Nick has been great about changing Evan's dirty diapers, burping him after he eats, giving him baths, and just about everything that goes with caring for a newborn. The only thing that Nick hadn't been able to do up to this point was feed Evan because I am breast feeding and hadn't started pumping yet. I finally got all of the parts for the pump and tried it out. I got enough milk for one feeding and Nick was SO EXCITED to finally be able to feed his little boy. It was really cute to watch Nick talk to Evan while he was feeding him.
Daddy finally got to feed Evan!

Evan's 1st Trip to Guernsey County

The day after Thanksgiving we made the long trip down to Guernsey County to visit with my family. We all had a great time and several people got to see Evan for the first time. Nick was excited because he was able to go deer hunting even though he wasn't too excited about navigating all of the big hills. Since I am still on maternity leave, we didn't have to rush back home and were able to stay until Wednesday morning.
