No School Yet Again!

That's right! No school again for Mommy! Not because of snow but because of all of the rain that we got last night. Evidently there is a lot of flooding and road closures. I am not going to complain because I get yet another day to spend with Evan and Nick. I just can't help but think how much I am going to hate having to make up the day at the end of the year. I am going to enjoy the day today and not worry about the make-up day in June. I will have the whole summer to spend with Evan and I can't wait!

So Sleepy

Evan was so sleepy after his company left on Saturday afternoon. He had just about fallen asleep on my shoulder and when I handed him off to his daddy, his hand was covering his face. He never moved his hand the whole time that he was sleeping. He looked so peaceful!

Saturday Afternoon

 Grandpa Schnittker, Aunt Tara, Aunt Tracy and Seth all came over on Saturday afternoon to visit. They were all excited to see Evan show off his new rolling over skills.

Lots of Attention

Aunt Baranda, Uncle Brent, Mason and Emily all came over for a visit on Friday afternoon. Evan had a great time with all of them.

Runny Rice Cereal

We decided to try feeding Evan some very runny rice cereal. He did alright at first, but eventually got very irritated with the whole process.

Visiting with Papa and Great-Grandma

Nick needed to help his Papa and Grandma clear off their driveway, so Evan and I went with him to visit with them. Evan just lights up and smiles like crazy whenever he hears Papa's voice. He really likes to hang out with Papa and Great-Grandma Schnittker. We tried to get Evan to show off his new rolling skills, but he never did get all the way over. He worked so hard that he eventually fell asleep on the floor.

Mommy had ANOTHER SNOW DAY!

Yes, I had another snow day! In fact, I only had two days of school this week. I had Monday off for Presidents' Day, had a snow day on Tuesday and another snow day on Friday. That makes a total of six snow days. As of right now I love getting the extra days to hang out with Evan and Nick. I am pretty sure that  I won't like all of the snow days quite as much come June. It's not going to be fun making up all of these snow days at the end of the school year.

Here are a few pictures that I took of Evan while we were hanging out on Friday. Nick was busy trying to clean off the driveway and we were nice and warm inside.   

Evan Rolled Over!

Evan was lying on his back on his little play mat today while Nick was sitting on the couch working on the computer. He looked up to check on Evan and noticed that he was on his tummy. He had rolled over! Nick rolled him back over onto his back, which didn't make Evan very happy. He grabbed the video camera and taped Evan as he proceeded to roll over again! Nick wanted to surprise me with the video so he kept it a secret from me all day long! I had a long day at school today because I had parent/teacher conferences and didn't get home until after 8:00. Grandma and Grandpa Schnittker were watching Evan tonight since Nick had to work. He even told his parents to keep the secret from me. I was so bummed out that I missed seeing him roll over for the first time, but I was very thankful that Nick video taped it for me. I put Evan on the floor tonight and after a few failed attempts, he was able to roll over for me. Now we're in trouble... He's one step closer to being mobile!

Slobbery Mess

Evan still spits up all the time! He also drools a lot! I know that he can't help it, but it gets so frustrating sometimes. We go through countless amounts of bibs and burp cloths. We have to change his clothes frequently because they either have spit-up on them or they are soaking wet from all of his slobber. Tonight I had to change his bib three times in less than a two hour period. I feel like I am always doing his laundry so that we have clean bibs to put on him and a clean burp cloth to wipe off his slobbery face. Even with us changing his bibs as often as we do, his poor little chin  and chubby cheeks still break out from all of the moisture. To add to the frustration, I can't tell you how many times we have changed his outfit because it has been spit-up on, and he proceeds to spit-up on the new outfit as we are putting it on him. Just the other day, Nick gave Evan a bath and handed him to me because I had his towel to dry him off. Of course, he spit-up and it rolled down his chin and all over his clean little belly. Again, this is SO FRUSTRATING! We put him back into the bath and washed him off again.

 We have been giving him medicine for Acid Reflux, but it doesn't seem to be helping the amount of spit-up. Evan prefers to gnaw on his hand instead of using a Binky. He always seems to have either his whole hand, a few fingers or even his thumb in his mouth. While he is gnawing on his hand, he tends to babble quite a bit as well. He has recently started playing with his tongue too. He sometimes "sucks" on his tongue. I know it sounds weird, but it really looks like he is sucking on his tongue some how. This too contributes to the massive amounts of slobber on his chin and bib. Hopefully he will outgrow this spit-up stage at some point. I know that this is just part his normal development, but I just feel so bad for him. I also know that the slobbering will only get worse once he starts teething. Yippee!

Mommy's Model

A good friend of mine from college makes these super cute hats for little girls. She has started selling them on Etsy, so I wanted to support her business. Since I don't have a little girl to wear the cute hats, I bought two of the hats for my cousin Beryl who is having twin girls in June. I ordered the hats to fit a 3-6 month old baby. Since Evan is a 3 month old, I decided to have him try it on to see what it would look like. I think he looks pretty darn cute! Nick wasn't too thrilled that I was posting this picture of Evan, but he said it was alright as long as I explained why Evan was wearing a girl's hat. Beryl's little ones are going to look so cute in those hats. If you want information on where you can purchase a hat like the one Evan is modeling, let me know.

Oreos

A couple of weeks ago we went over to visit Grandma and Grandpa Schnittker. Aunt Tara was also there. Grandpa Schnittker was eating some Oreos and let Evan try to lick one of them. As you can see, he did not really know what he was supposed to do with the Oreo!

TWIN GIRLS!

My cousin Beryl is expecting twin girls in June, so her sister Zoe and sister-in-law Lacey hosted her babies shower yesterday. It was nice to see all of the girls in the family. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of Beryl and her cute pregnant belly, but I did get a picture of my cousin Betsy holding Evan  and of course Mamaw had to hold him as well!

Mamaw had to wear a glove to keep her bandage from coming loose.  Very fashionable!

Nick and I were planning to go to a wedding on Saturday night, so Mamaw and Papaw came up for the weekend to watch Evan for us. The wedding was supposed to start at 5:00, so we planned to leave at 4:15 or so. At about 3:30 Mamaw was making cookies and needed to open a package of chocolate chips. Instead of getting a pair of scissors, she grabbed a big SHARP bread knife that was laying on the counter and tried to use it to open the bag. Needless to say, she sliced open her pointer finger and it bled like crazy. Papaw thought that she needed to get stitches so they went to the urgent care center. They offered to take Evan with them so that we could still make it to the wedding on time, but we told them that they needed to get Mamaw's finger fixed and not worry about us missing the wedding. When Mamaw and Papaw got home from the urgent care center at 5:15, Mamaw had a big bandage wrapped around her hand because she had to get 7 STITCHES! Poor Mamaw! On a side note, we missed the wedding, but were still able to make it to the reception. Thanks for helping us out Mamaw and Papaw! 

Go Buckeyes!

Evan was ready to cheer on the Buckeyes when they played the big game against Wisconsin last week. Unfortunately, the Buckeyes lost, but Evan still looked pretty cute!

Indoor Soccer

All three cousins play indoor soccer at the YMCA. Caleb and Aubrey are on the Blue 4 and 5 year old team and Noah is on the Yellow 7 year old team. Uncle Nathan and  Aunt Angie coach both teams as well. As you can see in the following pictures, they are all quite a bit taller than the rest of their teammates. We went to watch them play a game on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, we didn't get to watch Noah play his game because his game was a couple hours after Aubrey and Caleb's. We had a long drive home, so Evan and I left after the first game. Noah understood and was glad that we were able to watch his brother and sister play.
