So Much Fun with Mamaw

Evan had so much fun with Mamaw this week. They spent a lot of time outside in the backyard playing with the little car and slide that Mamaw brought up with her. They went for several long walks around the neighborhood and they went shopping at a couple of stores. Evan has gotten pretty attached to Mamaw and he is really going to miss playing with her tomorrow.  Thanks for all of your help this week Mamaw!

Mamaw came up today and is going to stay with us for a few days while Nick is in Michigan for training. We were both so excited to see Mamaw this afternoon. Evan had so much fun playing and showing Mamaw all of the new things he can do. He really didn't want to go to bed tonight.

A St. Patty's Day Wedding

A good friend that I work with got married on St. Patty's Day. It was a very small, but very beautiful ceremony. My friends decided that we would be Lynn's "honorary bridesmaids" and surprise her by wearing black dresses and fancy hats. She was so surprised and thought it was such a fun idea. We got quite a few funny looks, but overall people thought it was pretty neat. We all had a great time!

A Stroll at Sheldon's Marsh

Friday evening we met up with Kristi and her kids to go for a walk at Sheldon's Marsh. We all had so much fun! I hadn't seen Kristi for so long and it was great to have some time to catch up with each other. The kids loved being outside and they saw so many different animals. Evan and Lainey stayed in the strollers for most of the time, but were so excited when we took them out and let them walk (or run in Evan's case). When we finished our walk, we loaded up in the cars and went to get ice cream at the Pied Piper...YUMMY!

Kennedy and Carter were waiting for Evan to catch up with them. 

Kennedy decided to help Evan go in the right direction.

Warm Wednesday

Yesterday was another beautiful day. My car said that it was 78 degrees on my way home from school! It is so nice to be able to go outside without having to bundle Evan up in several layers. He loves going outside to play in the yard!

New Words

Evan has been saying a few new words lately. He still loves to say "daddy" all of the time, but he will also throw in "mommy" a few times. He says "hot" when he sees us cooking something on the stove, and he will sometimes say what sounds like "up" and "down." He also says "uh huh" and "yeah" when he agrees with something or when he is just babbling to himself. Grandma and Grandpa Schnittker said that he said "apple" several times when they watched him last week.  I am amazed more and more everyday by the new things that he is able to do. 

16 Months Old

Today was absolutely BEAUTIFUL so we took a walk to the neighborhood park. Evan played on the swings, slides and the bouncy vehicles. He had fun running around the yard and he even took a break to watch some big boys play basketball in their driveway. We all really enjoyed being out in the sun today!

Eating with a Fork

We ate dinner at Chipotle the other night and I let Evan play with the plastic fork. We were surprised to see him stab his food with his fork and put it into his mouth. We haven't let him use a fork yet, but we figured that he must have been practicing at Tammy's house (his babysitter). Sure enough, he's been using a fork for quite some time now! 

Two Hour Delay!

I was surprised to get a call that we were on a two hour delay this morning, so that's why I was able to update the blog with so many new posts. Evan slept in longer than usual this morning; I can hear him talking right now. I'm going to get him out of his crib and play with him for a little bit before I have to get ready for school. 

Social Butterfly

We went to Norwalk High School on Saturday night to watch the Edison Charger girls basketball team play Western Reserve in the District Final game. There was a very big crowd, so we chose to sit up in the balcony where he would have some room to run. Boy did he run? They have a nice glass railing so there was no way for him to get down to the lower level. Poor Nick went back and forth along the front of the balcony several times because he was trying to keep up with Evan. Everyone thought Evan was pretty cute "running" from one end of the gym to the other time after time. He even climbed up a few steps and walked over to a group of students and gave a couple of boys a high five. The funniest thing was that as Evan was running, he would look up at all of the people in the stands, smile and wave at them. It was almost like he was a miniature politician (let's hope not)! 

Yogurt

Evan loves to try to feed himself whenever he can and he gets really mad when we won't let him try. There are just some things that get so messy, but he doesn't understand why he can't try to do it himself. We let him feed himself yogurt the other night and he had a great time.

Evan hasn't quite gotten the hang of keeping the spoon upright. Most of the yogurt fell right onto his bib. 

He was able to get some yogurt into his mouth. 

Read Me a Book?

Evan loves to listen to us read him books. Unfortunately for us, it is usually the same 5 or 6 books over and over.  The neat thing is that usually whenever I read a book or sing to Evan, the baby moves around like crazy!
