So Far Behind

It is hard to believe that Grant turned 3 weeks old yesterday. The last few weeks have been such a blur and so crazy with having a newborn, trying to pack up everything in our house, and moving everything into the townhouse that we will be staying in temporarily until we find something permanent. We still haven't closed on our house but hope to in the next few days. In the meantime, we are still living in our house, but most of our things are in the townhouse. Needless to say it is pretty crazy right now.  As the boys both take their morning naps, I am going to attempt to update this blog. Let's see how much I can actually get done before one of them decides to wake up.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Just like Evan, Baby Snickers #2 never dropped into the correct position, so we knew ahead of time that we were going to have a c-section. We were up at 4:30 AM so that we could be at the hospital by 5:30. After lots of questions, needles, and prepping, they were finally ready to take me to the surgery room at about 7:30. Everything went really well and the baby was born at 8:03 AM. I remember watching the nurse clean the baby and weigh him, but when they were putting me back together, I started to feel more than I think I was supposed to. The anesthesiologist put a couple of things into my IV and all I remember is waking up in the recovery room with a few visitors. Apparently, I held the baby and posed for a few family pictures, all of which I do not remember. Nick and I had a few lists of boy names and girl names, but had yet to settle on one of each. Thankfully, Nick waited until I was in the right frame of mind to name our son, otherwise we might have had a son named Brutus. After much discussion throughout the day, we finally decided to name our son Grant Robert Schnittker. We both liked the name Grant and both of us have grandfathers who are named Robert.

First picture with our new little boy. I was still waking up from the anesthesia and don't remember this picture being taken. He didn't have a name until about 3:00 that afternoon when I was feeling back to normal.
