So Far Behind

It is hard to believe that Grant turned 3 weeks old yesterday. The last few weeks have been such a blur and so crazy with having a newborn, trying to pack up everything in our house, and moving everything into the townhouse that we will be staying in temporarily until we find something permanent. We still haven't closed on our house but hope to in the next few days. In the meantime, we are still living in our house, but most of our things are in the townhouse. Needless to say it is pretty crazy right now.  As the boys both take their morning naps, I am going to attempt to update this blog. Let's see how much I can actually get done before one of them decides to wake up.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

Just like Evan, Baby Snickers #2 never dropped into the correct position, so we knew ahead of time that we were going to have a c-section. We were up at 4:30 AM so that we could be at the hospital by 5:30. After lots of questions, needles, and prepping, they were finally ready to take me to the surgery room at about 7:30. Everything went really well and the baby was born at 8:03 AM. I remember watching the nurse clean the baby and weigh him, but when they were putting me back together, I started to feel more than I think I was supposed to. The anesthesiologist put a couple of things into my IV and all I remember is waking up in the recovery room with a few visitors. Apparently, I held the baby and posed for a few family pictures, all of which I do not remember. Nick and I had a few lists of boy names and girl names, but had yet to settle on one of each. Thankfully, Nick waited until I was in the right frame of mind to name our son, otherwise we might have had a son named Brutus. After much discussion throughout the day, we finally decided to name our son Grant Robert Schnittker. We both liked the name Grant and both of us have grandfathers who are named Robert.

First picture with our new little boy. I was still waking up from the anesthesia and don't remember this picture being taken. He didn't have a name until about 3:00 that afternoon when I was feeling back to normal.

Big Brother Meets Little Brother

Mamaw and Papaw brought Evan to the hospital on Thursday afternoon so that he could see Mommy and Daddy and meet his new little brother. He was a little bit unsure of what was going on, but did really well overall. He wanted up on the bed with me and wanted to get a closer look at Grant. He touched him a few times, but had more fun running around the big hospital room and getting everyone to laugh at him. Daddy got some ice cream for Evan, so that made the visit even better.

Evan was a little unsure of the baby on Mommy's lap.

He wanted to touch the baby.

Evan was wearing a "Big Bro" t-shirt and he had a "Little Brother" shirt for his brother.

Evan was still a little bit unsure of what was going on.

Lots of Visitors

Mamaw was glad to hold the baby. Papaw was there too, but he wasn't feeling well enough to hold the baby.

Great Grandma "Nana" Schnittker

Nana and Papa Schnittker were so excited to see their newest great-grandchild.

Mason was happy to hold his newest little cousin.

Grandpa Schnittker was there for the delivery, but had to leave for work before anyone could actually see the baby. He came back Thursday night to see his newest grandson.

39 Weeks

This is what my belly looked like on Wednesday night at 39 weeks. We were scheduled for a c-section early the next morning.
