We put in an offer on a bank-owned home back in August and everything finally worked for us to close in the middle of October. We knew going in that the house needed a lot of work, so we got a special loan that would help us pay for the cost of the improvements that needed to be made. It took quite a while to get the utilities turned back on for the home inspection and to get the different contractors out to the house to give us quotes for the work that needed to be done. Add the fact that we were dealing with a bank instead of an actual homeowner and that just adds to the drama of buying a home. When all was said and done, we were able to get everything worked out and took possession of the house on October 15. We weren't able to move in for a couple of weeks after that and you will see why in some of the following posts.
