October 13, 2012

While we were visiting Mamaw and Papaw, we went to look at Uncle Chuck's old barn to see if there would be any beams that we could use for a mantle in our new house. Evan also had fun going around the farm with Papaw checking on all of the animals and sitting on all of the tractors.

Yummy pasta!

Nap time on Mamaw's lap.

Mamaw and Evan were walking to see the old barn before it got torn down.

Daddy set Grant down in the middle of the cow field all by himself! Mommy wasn't too happy with him, especially when I noticed that the bull was not too far away in the field going up the hill! Daddy's response was, "He was alright"

Trying to figure out how the get the rest of the barn to come down safely.

Looking at the inside of the old barn.

Mamaw and Evan sat down to watch the cows in the field.

Evan was trying to be helpful and turn his brother's head.

Daddy getting some snuggles from Grant.

Still trying to figure out what would be the best way to tear the old barn down.

"I knock baby down."

Mmmm, apple cookies!

We Bought a New House!

We put in an offer on a bank-owned home back in August and everything finally worked for us to close in the middle of October. We knew going in that the house needed a lot of work, so we got a special loan that would help us pay for the cost of the improvements that needed to be made. It took quite a while to get the utilities turned back on for the home inspection and to get the different contractors out to the house to give us quotes for the work that needed to be done. Add the fact that we were dealing with a bank instead of an actual homeowner and that just adds to the drama of buying a home. When all was said and done, we were able to get everything worked out and took possession of the house on October 15.  We weren't able to move in for a couple of weeks after that and you will see why in some of the following posts.

Back of the house with overgrown landscaping, a torn apart deck and patio around a very neglected pool.

Playing Catch Up

Oh my, do I have a lot of catching up to do? I haven't posted anything on here for almost two months! So much has happened to our family in the last two months that I really have my work cut out for me. It's going to take me quite a while to post everything that I want to post, so keep checking back to see if there is anything new.
