Prepping for Flooring Installation

Willy, the installer was cleaning up the mess after he removed the old linoleum in the kitchen, laundry room and half bath.

The dining room and part of the kitchen was ready for the new flooring.

Willy put the island back in place before he installed the new floor.

The little hallway from the kitchen that goes to the garage,  laundry room and half bath.

The foyer that had hardwood that was next to impossible to remove. Willy couldn't get it to come up so he will have to install the new flooring overtop of the old hardwood.

New Light Fixture

While I was at work, Papaw said that he would install the new light fixture that I had bought for above the island in the kitchen. I received a text message that the light looked really nice, so I was excited to come home and see it. When I got home, this is what I found. My dad thought it would be funny to install a single light bulb above the island.

Carpet Removal

Evan helped Grandpa Schnittker and Daddy carry in the new baseboards for his bedroom.

Grant was overseeing all of the projects from his bouncy toy.

Keeping and eye on the pile of carpet and padding that was building up in the living room.

Rolling up the carpet in the dining room.

Daddy, Grandpa Schnittker and Papaw worked together to get the carpet pulled up in the dining room.

Grant thought they were doing a great job.

Ripping up the padding.

Evan's bedroom was ready for new carpet.

The boys' bathroom was ready for new flooring.

A view of the hallway and playroom from the boys' bedrooms.

A look at the balcony from the landing on the steps.  The installers had already put the new padding down.

I painted the bottom of the steps before the new carpet was installed.

Visitors

Nick's cousin Ryan, his wife Erin and their son Gianni were in town for the weekend and stopped by to see our new house. They couldn't believe all of the projects that we had going on and the things that we had already accomplished.

Evan and Gianni were standing on the step ladder together.

Gianni wanted to take a ride on the tractor.

Of course Evan had to ride on the tractor as well.

New Deck

Mamaw and the boys were watching the men build the new deck.

Part of the new deck and the pile of the supplies.

The guys worked really quickly. They had taken a break for lunch.

It was raining all day long thanks to Hurricane Sandy. I took some pictures of the little creek in the ravine behind our house. The creek quickly turned into a river because of all of the rain.

Mamaw and her little lap dog.

Evan had to do his inspection.

They came back a couple of days later when it finally stopped raining to finish the railing and steps.

Evan's Artwork

Evan wanted to help paint in Grant's bedroom. Thankfully that carpet was going to be torn out and replaced.
