Splish-Splashin' Around

Aubrey came up with Mamaw and Papaw on Friday night to spend the night. Grant's 1st birthday party was on Saturday, May 4 and they wanted to be there to help get things ready. We had wiener roast in the fire pit for dinner and enjoyed the beautiful weather outside.  Aubrey had never been to our new house before so she had fun checking everything out. She especially liked the pool. She and Evan played on the steps for quite a while and ended up getting completely soaked. The water was still pretty chilly, but neither one of them seemed to mind!

Long Trip Home

Early Sunday morning, we loaded everything up and headed home. We had a great time in Atlanta visiting family and celebrating Uncle Matthew and Aunt Pari's wedding, but we were ready to get home.  It was pouring down rain, so thankfully Nick volunteered to drive through Atlanta. We had made it almost to Virginia and Evan kept complaining about his tummy hurting. Then all of a sudden, Mamaw looked back from the front seat to see Evan had puked all over himself. I was in the back seat, so I leaned forward to see if I can get him cleaned up and he proceeded to throw up again. The poor boy had vomit everywhere! Thankfully, the very next exit was the Virginia Welcome Center, but it was still pouring outside. Nick pulled off and quickly took Evan inside to clean him up as much as possible while my mom and I tried to clean up his carseat with a towel and a bunch of baby wipes. I then lined his carseat with a pillowcase so he wouldn't have to sit on the wet carseat. When Nick brought Evan back out to the van, Evan looked so silly. Nick had grabbed the first outfit he could find and it ended up being Grant's 12 month pajamas. Needless to say, they were a bit snug and short on Evan. As Nick was trying to get Evan back into his carseat, he leaned over him to reach something and hit his head on one of the drop-down compartments in the middle of the van. He ended up with a big gash on the top of his head. The rest of the trip went pretty well, although it took us quite a bit longer than the original trip down South. Since we traveled during the day this time, we had to make more stops for the boys to get out and burn off some energy. After we stopped at my parents house for a little bit to get some dinner, we finally made it home around midnight. I had to get up and go to school the next day, so that ended up being a VERY LONG week!

The big gash in the top of Nick's head after he leaned into the van to help clean up Evan's mess and hit his head on one of the little storage compartments that open up in the center of the van ceiling.

Evan is a little bit slap-happy. Notice his extremely small pajamas and the cup holder filled with floating Chex Mix. He had put a handful of Chex Mix in his cup holder then poured water into it.

The Russell Wedding - April 27, 2013

Matthew and Pari had a fantastic evening for their wedding. They had been worried all week long that is was going to rain, but it turned out to be the perfect temperature with absolutely no rain! Everything was beautiful, but unfortunately I missed most of the reception, so I don't have many pictures. My mom went on the trip to Atlanta to help out with the boys, especially on Saturday night. The wedding didn't start until 7:30 (the boys' bedtime), so as soon as the wedding was over and they had taken all of the pictures that included the boys, I took my mom and Grant back to the hotel. (Evan wanted to stay and dance at the reception.) It took about 25-30 minutes to get back to the hotel using an alternate route that didn't include any highways. I made a horrible mistake on the way back to the reception and decided to take the interstate, which took me over an hour. A bad combination of construction and an extremely high volume of traffic made it impossible to get anywhere in a hurry.  I missed most of the reception and completely missed Evan dancing. By the time I arrived, he was tired and just wanted to sit on my lap with "Dumpy." Apparently, he had a great time dancing with his cousins. I am SO THANKFUL that I do not have to deal with traffic like that on a regular basis. I wouldn't be able to handle that type of lifestyle.

Cousins (Once again, Grant is crying because he isn't being held)

Cake cutting (Nick took that picture- I missed it.)

Evan was getting tired at this point.

Handsome Boys

Evan fell asleep in Daddy's arms while we were waiting for our sandwiches to be made.

Rehearsal

Matthew and Pari had an outdoor wedding in a beautiful setting.

The bride and groom practicing for their big day.

Evan needed a break.

Mamaw held on to Grant to keep him out of the way. Unfortunately, he usually isn't happy unless he is being held.

Mimi, Daddy, Evan and Grant.

Mimi and Poppa with all of their grandchildren. Emily, Mason, Evan,  Anna Claire, and Grant.

Mimi was trying to corral the kids for a kids only shot.

It didn't work out so well. Grant wanted to be held.

1st Birthday in a Hotel Room

Grant's 1st birthday fell on a Friday, which was the day before Uncle Matthew and Aunt Pari's wedding. Everyone was busy getting ready for the big day, so we just bought cupcake for Grant to dig into in our hotel room in Atlanta. We were really excited that Mimi and Poppa were there to watch Grant make a big mess because they live so far away and aren't able to make it to many parties.

Before the mess began.

Nothing like having a mini 1st birthday party in the hotel room.

Starting to dig in!

Yummy icing!

Daddy gave him a taste of the cupcake.

Evan wanted to play with Grant's balloons.

Happy 1st Birthday Early Bird!

While we were staying in the hotel in Atlanta, Grant woke up every morning around 4:30 or 5:00. On April 26, Grant's 1st birthday, I ended up taking him downstairs to the lobby so that everyone else could sleep a little bit longer. He had a good time walking around and playing with a few toys that I had taken downstairs with us. He also made friends with the lady working at the front desk.
Grant was hanging out with Mommy in the hotel lobby while everyone was still asleep.

When we came back up to the room, he passed out after  drinking a bottle.
